From the most-feared striker in the world to a complete joke in the eyes of just about everyone except a loyal Chelsea fan, this man has made the day of countless number of fans and given them hope with creative sparks that got him 14 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League itself. Yes, not 1 goal but 14, contrary to what a completely retarded so-called ‘football fan’ thinks when he goes to the Man United forum and posts “Ronaldo rocks man”. Regarded as a player who used to ooze with class on the pitch, his form has definitely gone way below par and something that you would not expect from a top-quality, Euro and World Cup winning striker. In recent months we have seen the man attain a bit of his form with goals against Barcelona, run-up to the FA Cup, his first hat-trick for Chelsea against QPR and also winning the corner which saw Didier Drogba head in the goal to send Chelsea to extra-time as they clinched their maiden Champions League on penalties.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. That’s what they say and this man is a perfect example of it. He has been made a mockery of by just about the entire world wide web with internet filled with jokes and gags about him. When there’s Messi or Ronaldo, why would you talk about Torres? The man for the biggest moments is what he was called, but ours will always be Drogba. At 28, he has just about reached his peak and next season could be the year where he shows why we brought him to West London for an astronomical sum. Yes I know the doubters are there who still believe Messi is the most talked about footballer. Well, let’s analyze again. A friend watched the Manchester United vs Chelsea game in which Torres commits a complete howler. My friend immediately goes on facebook and posts – “OMG maaan, hw did he miss dat ?!?!? he sux !” which after a few seconds, is seen among other Torres related statuses. A person who is completely unknown to the beautiful game quickly laps up all he needs to know and comes to the conclusion that this guy called Torres has missed an open goal opportunity in a very embarrassing way. This spreads from one person to another for a million times and Lionel Messi is completely overshadowed.

Approximately half the planet is on facebook. One-third of them watched the game live and on the couch. This spreads quickly from one person to another and the whole of facebook is talking about Torres. Do you think Messi or Ronaldo could still play with a smile on their faces and thank the fans after having a very poor run of form? With the attitude of whining that they have , do you think they will still hold their heads up?

But somehow or the other stats always go his way. But people tend to forget that Robin van Persie, who netted 30 goals in the Premier League this season, played an entire match the same day and didn’t do much to prove his country why he is the winner of the PFA player of the year award. Truth is, Spain was more lively when he came on and Vincent Del Bosque definitely understood that and played him in the next game. A Ferrari is different from a Maruti because it has class, style and one of the best features you would want in a very expensive car. But the Maruti would be preferred over a Ferrari if petrol was only available in the Maruti. In the same way the inclusion of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin are definitely meant to boost him as they open up the defense to send the man clear through as Steven Gerrard did for him in Liverpool.

Without creating a chance, today’s strikers can’t score, unless you’re Didier Drogba as you power you way past the defense. With recent performances , I’m sure the man is set to become Chelsea’s talisman because when the so called top players have faded away for their country, the most talked about man has always been a live wire.
