We’ve seen EA sports’ FIFA evolve over the years, improving on almost all the parts of the game, making it even more fun and exciting than ever before. However if there ever was an area that the game did not give much attention to, over the years, it would be that of the Goalkeepers. In the game, Goalkeepers behaved and moved only in certain ways and over the years, there hasn’t been much improvement in that. Well, it looks like it’s all about to change with the latest installment in the series, FIFA 15. Goalkeepers have been totally altered for FIFA 15 with a new, realistic player model, improved AI and by introducing over 50 new save animations. These Next Gen goalkeepers are more alert and fluid when they move. They also behave, look and think like actual goalkeepers making the game even more interesting.
The main changes made to goalkeepers are:
Improved reactions
Keepers can now read the game and react accordingly to gameplay situations. This allows them to adjust their movements even if going in the wrong direction, and making a last-ditch effort by reaching back or throwing out a leg. FIFA 15 also makes the way keepers react to difficult shots much more realistic. Where before goalkeepers would latch on to most balls they touched, you’ll now see a new range of realistic deflections and spills as keepers try to make a save.
Better decisions
Now in FIFA 15, Goalkeepers make better decisions when following the ball on crosses, corners and through balls inside the box and in one-on-one situations. Keepers in FIFA 15 do not just stand idly, coming to action only when needed but take charge of their area with more alertness and intelligence than ever before. Goalies will also be able to read the flight of balls and there will be more variety in the manner of their reactions to swerving, dipping or turbulent shots.
New Ways to Score
With so much improvement brought into goalkeepers, making them more mobile and realistic, one would assume scoring a goal in FIFA 15 will be a tough job. However, people need not worry so much as new movements in goalkeepers also means it opens up new scoring opportunities for attackers. Your attacker too recognizes goalkeeper movement and will try to adjust his shot according to how the keeper behaves. Hence, players can make adjustments to the shots like shooting it back across goal, quick shots which will leave no time to react or giving the keeper a panna.
