It is the dawn of a new era at Old Trafford after Jose Mourinho took over the reins from Louis Van Gaal, who gave Manchester United fans a rather underwhelming experience the past couple of years.
United failed to qualify for the Champions League for the second time in three years, which resulted in the sacking of the Dutch manager and the hiring of the ‘Special One.’
Jose Mourinho made some blockbuster recruitments already with Zlatan Ibrahimovich reuniting with his former manager and Paul Pogba returning to Manchester after four years with Juventus.
FIFA 17 recently released the player ratings for the Manchester United players as fans prepare for the launch of the game by EA Sports which is just around the corner.
We take a look at the new ratings EA Sports has given to the Manchester United players:
Sean Goss: 58 Overall
The youngster from the Manchester United academy is given a rating of 58 in FIFA 17.
Regan Poole: 63 Overall
Poole made his debut as a substitute in a Europa League tie last season and gets a rating of 63 in the latest edition of FIFA.
Joe Riley: 64 Overall
The young defender made two appearances for Manchester United last season and is awarded a rating of 64 in FIFA 17.
Axel Tuanzebe: 67 Overall
The young defender, who represented England at the Under-19 level, finds a 67 rating to his name in FIFA 17.
Sam Johnstone: 68 Overall
The young goalkeeper gets a rating of 68 with 70 diving, 71 handling and 73 reflex.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah: 71 Overall
Fosu-Mensah made 10 appearances for the United senior team last season and gets a rating of 71 with 80 pace and 78 physicality.
Marcus Rashford: 76 Overall
Marcus Rashford was the find of Manchester United last season. He made his debut in January and thanks to his impressive form, was picked to represent England in Euro 2016. Rashford was expected to make a giant leap in his FIFA 17 ratings and he has.
In the recently released ratings by EA Sports, Rashford is given a 76 rating compared to the low 59 he had in FIFA 16.
Jesse Lingard: 77 Overall
The academy graduate had an impressive last season and got a number of chances to show his potential. He gets an upgrade of three rating points to 77.
Marcos Rojo: 78 Overall
The Argentine defender gets a rating of 78 in FIFA 17 and is attributed with 83 physicality and 79 defending.
Marouane Fellaini: 78 Overall
Marouane Fellaini is expected to play an integral role in midfield for Jose Mourinho. In FIFA 17, he gets an overall rating of 78 with 90 physicality which is impressive.
Ashley Young: 79 Overall
Ashley Young might see his chances limited in the red shirt with the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He gets a downgrade of a point to 79 in the latest edition of FIFA.
Phil Jones: 79 Overall
Phil Jones might be kept out by Eric Baily for a starting line-up berth this season under Jose Mourinho. Jones if given a rating of 79 and attributed with 79 defending and 80 physicality.
Sergio Romero: 79 Overall
The Argentine veteran is United’s second choice goalkeeper behind the outstanding David De Gea. He gets an upgrade of three points to 79 in the latest edition of FIFA.
Memphis Depay: 80 Overall
Memphis Depay completed his big-money move to Manchester United last summer, However, he has failed to live up to the reputation he had come with. He finds himself downgraded by a point to 80.
Antonio Valencia: 80 Overall
Once a winger, Valencia plies his trade as a right back nowadays. He gets an upgrade in his rating from 79 to 80 in FIFA 17 with 79 dribbling and 84 pace.
Luke Shaw: 80 Overall
Luke Shaw was injured for most parts of last season due to a horrific leg break. However, his rating does improve by three points to 80 in the latest ratings.
Matteo Darmian: 80 Overall
Darmian had his chances limited at Old Trafford and finds his rating downgraded by a point to 80.
Daley Blind: 81 Overall
Blind finds a one point increased rating to 81 after some decent performances last season. He is attributed with 77 passing, 76 dribbling and 81 defending.
Michael Carrick: 81 Overall
Carrick put in some solid performances for the Red Devils last season which sees his rating go up by a point to 81 in FIFA 17.
Anthony Martial: 82 Overall
Anthony Martial arrived at United for a huge transfer fee and has been likened to the great Thierry Henry in his playing style. The French forward impressed last season with his skills and goals at Old Trafford.
He is deservedly rewarded in FIFA 17 with an upgraded ranking of 82 from his previous 77 rating.
Eric Bailly: 82 Overall
Eric Bailly looks like a solid defender and has immediately found a place in Mourinho’s starting line up. He gets an upgrade of five rating points to 82.
Ander Herrera: 82 Overall
Herrera has been very good in patches for United last season. He gets an upgrade of a point to 82 in FIFA 17.
Morgan Schneiderlin: 82 Overall
Morgan Scheiderlin is yet to show his calibre for United. He gets an overall rating of 82 in FIFA 17 with 80 defending, 82 physicality and 75 passing.
Bastian Schweinsteiger: 83 Overall
The German might find his time limited on the field, with Mourinho not very keen on keeping him in his core plans. The midfielder gets a rating of 83 in FIFA 17 with 83 passing, 45 dribbling and 75 defending.
Chris Smalling: 84 Overall
Chris Smalling was Manchester united’s best defender last season. He gets a massive upgrade from 79 to 84 in FIFA 17 and is attributed with 84 defending and 84 physicality.
The Red Devils captain played in a number of positions last season under Dutchman Louis Van Gaal and wasn’t especially bright. He gets a downgrade from 86 to 84 in the latest edition of FIFA.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan: 85 Overall
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder joined United this season and is expected to spearhead the Red Devils’ wing-play. Mkhitaryan gets a massive upgrade to 85 from 81 in FIFA 17.
Paul Pogba: 88 Overall
United’s world record transfer, Paul Pogba has been hugely impressive with Juventus for the past few seasons and at such a young age, will only improve.
Pogba gets an upgrade of a point to 88 in the latest FIFA 17 rankings and deservedly so.
David De Gea: 90 Overall
David De Gea’s performance last season can be summed up in one word: Outstanding. The Spanish No.1 has been rock solid between the sticks for Manchester United for a couple of years now, which has seen him grow into one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
David De Gea gets a huge four point increase in his FIFA 17 ratings to 90 from his earlier rating of 86 in FIFA 16 and deservedly so. The Spaniard who was often criticised on his dealing with set pieces and corners has improved leaps and bounds and has become arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: 90 Overall
If EA Sports FIFA was real, Zlatan would get a rating of 99 owing to his video-gamesque kicks and volleys. However, in the new edition of FIFA 17, Zlatan gets a rating of 90 which is not bad at all, in spite of being the wrong side of 30. He also gets an upgrade of a point from the previous version of FIFA where he had a rating of 89.
Zlatan won the domestic treble with PSG last season, adding to the huge pile of trophies he has amassed in his career. His move to United is a new journey for the Swede, where he’ll hope to win some more trophies for Jose Mourinho.
