Let’s take a look at FIFA 17’s predicted Top 10 players:

#10 David De Gea: 90

David De Gea has been absolutely stunning for Manchester United, and kicks off our Top 10 list. David De Gea kept United in the game time and again, despite a very shaky defence in front of him. He had a total of 19 clean sheets in all club competitions last season.

De Gea recently took over as Spain’s No. 1 from long term serving skipper, Iker Casillas. Despite the legendary status of Casillas, De Gea’s performances completely justified him being named No.1 for Spain. He had 2 clean sheets to his name in 4 matches at Euro 2016.

Manchester United have one of the best keepers in the world, and will be a crucial part of United’s quest to reach the pinnacle of English football once again. De Gea is expected to be FIFA’s second-highest rated goalkeeper, at 90.

#9 Jerome Boateng: 90

The German International will be FIFA 17’s highest rated defender

Boateng is one of the best defenders in world football, and featured in 30 matches for the German champions. He played a vital role at the heart of Bayern’s defense, and made it so hard to get past him.

He did have an embarrassing moment against Barcelona in UCL, but he was solid throughout last season and promises to form an impeccable central defensive partnership with Hummels, for the upcoming season.

Boateng was pretty good at Euro 2016 with Germany, barring the crazy handball against Italy in the quarters. The German international is very effective with tackles, and has excellent aerial ability to divert balls away from his goal, as well as chip in with a few goals here and there.

Boateng will be FIFA 17’s highest rated centre-back, and given his performances for club and country, one can’t argue with that.

#8 Robert Lewandowski: 90

Lewandowski was Bundesliga’s top goal-scorer last season

Lewandowski was magnificent for the German champions last season, scoring 30 goals in Bundesliga, and emerged as the highest scorer ahead of Aubameyang. The Polish international was also the first player to score 30 goals in the German league in 40 years.

He also had 9 goals to his name in the Champions League, before Bayern’s defeat over two legs to Atletico Madrid. Lewa was crucial to the Polish side’s surprising run to the quarters, where they went out to eventual champions, Portugal.

Lewandowski is likely to get a minimum upgrade to 90 for the sensational season he’s had.

#7 Gareth Bale: 90

Bale is adjusting well to life at Madrid

Gareth Bale had a sensational season last year, winning Champions League, and Wales’ incredible run to the semis. Bale took some time to adjust to life at Madrid, but he looks to be in terms with it now. The Welshman scoring 19 goals and had 17 assists to his name last season.

Bale is going to be Real Madrid’s long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo once the Portuguese sensation retires at Santiago Bernabeu or moves to a different club.

Bale scored 3 goals at Euro 2016, his pace was vital to Wales’ counter-attacking football.

He is one of the best players in the world and deserves a minimum upgrade of 2 from his FIFA 16 rating.

#6 Zlatan Ibrahimovic: 90

Ibrahimovic has been an instant hit at Old Trafford

The Big Swede was exceptional at PSG last season, helping them win 4 domestic titles last season. He was the highest scorer of Ligue 1 by quite some distance, with 43 goals in Ligue 1 and Champions League.

He dominated and bullied defenders in the French League, and when he realized he had already won the French challenge, he decided to embark on a new one.

Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United on a free transfer and has had a flying start to his United career, scoring 4 goals in as many competitive matches for United. He even played a crucial role is Sweden’s Euro qualifiers, scoring 10 goals in 10 appearances.

EA does have a tendency to downgrade ratings with age, but there’s no way they’re decreasing Zlatan’s ratings. He had a sensational season, and should get an upgrade to 90.

#5 Manuel Neuer: 92

The sweeper-keeper, Manuel Neuer

Arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, Neuer finds himself at 6th. The German and Bayern Munich sweeper keeper is expected to retain his FIFA 16 rating.

He probably didn’t have the best of seasons when compared to his ridiculously high standards, but still managed to keep 32 clean sheets across all competitions.

Neuer’s presence in goal is reassuring for defenders, as he manages to come out on top more often than not, and is renowned for his sweeper-keeper skills.

He plays the role of the 11th outfield player, and helps create space for his teammates, as well as to clear the ball from potential goal threats. Neuer continues to be World Cup and European giants’ No.1, and should retain his 90 cards in FIFA’s latest.

#4 Neymar: 92

Neymar inspired Brazil to their first ever Olympic gold in football

Neymar was brilliant at Camp Nou, especially when he had to fill Messi’s boots following the Argentinian's injury. He scored 24 goals and had 12 assists to his name in La Liga last season, and also played a crucial role in Barca’s semi-final run to the semis’ of Champions League.

The Brazilian scored 3 goals and 4 assists in UCL.

He recently added another achievement to his already illustrious career, at just 24, winning an Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016, and Brazil’s first-ever gold medal in football.

Neymar is an absolute beast of a footballer, and playing alongside the likes of Messi and Iniesta, is only taking his game a few steps. Neymar definitely deserves an upgrade in FIFA’s latest and keep an eye out for his potential rating.

#3 Luis Suarez: 92

Suarez scored 59 goals last season

The holder of the Pichichi, Luis Suarez was breathtaking to watch last season, as he scored 59 goals for Barcelona in all competitions. He did receive a lot of help from Neymar and Messi, among others, but one needs to be a great finisher to score 59 goals in a single season.

He also had 19 assists last season and is one of the favorite’s to win the upcoming Ballon D’Or.

Suarez was always tipped to achieve great heights, since his 4-year spell at Anfield, where he mounted a mammoth 82 goals in just 133 appearances. His transfer was one of the most expensive transfers, but he’s proved to be worth every penny and risk

Suarez is probably THE best striker in world football, and should be rewarded for the magnificent season with a 92 card.

#2 Lionel Messi: 94

Messi at #2

Lionel Messi did miss a good part of the first half of 2015-16 season, but came back strong, scoring 26 goals and 16 assists in La Liga. He formed an incredible trio with Luis Suarez and Neymar, to guide Barcelona to La Liga and Copa Del Rey triumph.

He scored 37 goals and provided 17 assists in just 45 matches. Quite marvelous!

The Argentine did not start in too many matches for Argentina at Copa America Centenario but made a huge impact coming on from the bench. He scored 5 goals and 4 assists before La Albiceleste’s heartbreaking loss in the finals to Chile.

Messi missed in the penalty shoot-out, and broke down, announcing his international retirement.

Much to football fans’ relief, Messi returned to international football and remains one of the best footballers’ of all times. The Argentine skipper should be able to retain his 94 rating.

#1 Cristiano Ronaldo:94

Ronaldo finally added an international trophy to his illustrious career

The Portuguese probably had the best season of his life last year, winning the Champions League and most importantly, Euro 2016 as the skipper of his national team. This is probably the only difference between Messi and Ronaldo, and dare I say, both of them are at the same level now.

Ronaldo is one of the favourites to win the Ballon D’Or, and was exceptional for Real Madrid, scoring 16 goals in the Champions League. He played a huge role in Madrid’s La Un Decima victory and was recently named as UEFA Player of the Year.

The most decisive factor in his upgrade would be his international glory at Euro 2016. Ronaldo will, in all probability, get an upgrade to 94 - level with Lionel Messi.
