#2 Lionel Messi: 94
Lionel Messi did miss a good part of the first half of 2015-16 season, but came back strong, scoring 26 goals and 16 assists in La Liga. He formed an incredible trio with Luis Suarez and Neymar, to guide Barcelona to La Liga and Copa Del Rey triumph.
He scored 37 goals and provided 17 assists in just 45 matches. Quite marvelous!
The Argentine did not start in too many matches for Argentina at Copa America Centenario but made a huge impact coming on from the bench. He scored 5 goals and 4 assists before La Albiceleste’s heartbreaking loss in the finals to Chile.
Messi missed in the penalty shoot-out, and broke down, announcing his international retirement.
Much to football fans’ relief, Messi returned to international football and remains one of the best footballers’ of all times. The Argentine skipper should be able to retain his 94 rating.
