EA Sports’ FIFA 17 is slated to release on 29 September and fans are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the game after experiencing the enhanced graphics and gameplay in the demo version which was released recently. FIFA is one of the most popular video games in the world and a treat to every fan of the beautiful game.
There are several new upgrades in the latest edition of FIFA with the introduction of the Frostbite Engine ,enhancing the graphics by leaps and bounds and the Journey Mode which features a young player’s path to greatness.
The developers have already released the list of the top 50 players in FIFA 17 along with lists of top players in major leagues of Europe. Recently, they released a list of the best goalkeepers who will feature in FIFA 17 with Manuel Neuer inevitably leading the chart.
We take a look at the top 10 goalkeepers in FIFA 17:
#10 Keylor Navas: 85 Overall
Keylor Navas is #10 in the list of highest rated goalkeepers in FIFA 17. The Costa Rican came to the spotlight in the 2013-14 season for Levante and was nominated as one of the three best goalkeepers in Spain alongside Thibaut Courtois of Atletico Madrid and Willy Caballero of Malaga and went on to win the award.
After brilliant displays for the Costa Rican national team at the FIFA World Cup in 2014, Real Madrid were quick to identify him as the potential replacement of Iker Casillas. Real triggered the 10 million buyout clause and got Navas to sign a six-year contract with Los Blancos.
After the deadline day transfer fiasco with Manchester United ended in Navas staying with Los Blancos, Navas cemented his spot in the starting lineup and put in solid performances for the club on a weekly basis. Last season he was an integral part of Real Madrid’s La Undecima under Zinedine Zidane and also started 34 league games in the Real Madrid white .
He was rated 79 in FIFA 16 but gets an upgrade of a massive six points to 85 in FIFA 17. Navas is attributed with 74 handling, 77 positioning, 82 diving and 83 reflexes.

#9 Bernd Leno: 86 Overall
Bernd Leno was one of the outstanding goalkeepers in the Bundesliga last season along with Manuel Neuer and Loris Karius. Since joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2011, Leno has made a total of 223 appearances for the German club.
Leno began his career as a youth player at VfB Stuttgart where he made 56 appearances for the Stuttgart Reserve Team. Leno became the youngest goalkeeper to play in the Champions League in 2011 when he went up against Chelsea in a group stage game at the age of 19 when on loan at Leverkusen. He was soon transferred to Bayer and has made a meteoric rise at the club since.
Leno was key to Roger Schmidt’s campaign last season as the 24-year-old helped the German team finish third in the Bundesliga.
In FIFA 17 he is rated 86 with 85 diving, 86 handling, 83 reflexes and 83 positioning skills.

#8 Jan Oblak: 87 Overall
Jan Oblak has had a phenomenal rise and become one of the best goalkeepers in the La Liga at present. The Slovenian has been brilliant under the sticks for Atletico Madrid for the past couple of years and, at 23, he is destined to rise even further.
Jan Oblak joined Benfica in 2010 from Slovenian side Olympija Ljubljana but failed to cement a place in the starting lineup for the Portuguese club and was sent on a series of loans. It was only in the 2013-14 season that he came to the forefront after the injury of Benfica’s number one goalkeeper.
In 2014, Atletico Madrid came calling to replace him with Thibaut Courtois who would return to his parent club Chelsea. He soon established himself as the number one at Atletico and played a vital role in Los Rojiblancos’ Champions League run to the finals last season.
The Slovenian is rated 87 in FIFA 17 with 83 diving, 90 handling, 82 reflex and 87 positioning.

#7 Samir Handanovic: 87 Overall
Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is seventh in EA Sports’ list of top goalkeepers in FIFA 17 with an overall rating of 87. Handanovic is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe for his impeccable shot stopping ability. He also has the rare talent of being an excellent penalty kick stopper with him holding the Italian record of having saved the most consecutive penalties (six) between 2013 and 2015.
Handanovic made his name at Italian club Udinese where he established himself as their first-choice goalkeeper and was named Serie A goalkeeper of the year in 2011. In 2012, the Slovenian moved to Inter Milan for a reported fee of €11 million. Handanovic has put in solid performances for Inter Milan since then even though the club has failed to duplicate their past glory in recent seasons.
Last season, Handanovic made 36 appearances for Inter Milan in Serie A and kept 15 clean sheets and helped them to gain a Europa League berth.
Handanovic is rated 87 in FIFA 17 and attributed 86 diving, 89 handling, 86 reflexes and 86 positioning.

#6 Petr Cech: 88 Overall
Petr Cech has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League for more than a decade now. Signed by Chelsea in 2004, Cech played a crucial role in the Blues’ Premier League triumphs in 2005 and 2006.
A severe head injury forced the Czech Republic international to be sidelined for three months. However, Cech returned stronger and with a headgear which has become synonymous with him. Cech also went on to win two more Premier League titles and a Champions League title in his time at Chelsea.
The veteran goalkeeper moved to North London last season and signed for rivals Arsenal after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois. However, he was classy in the Arsenal red too and put in brilliant performances for the Gunners as they finished second in the Premier League.
In FIFA 17, Petr Cech has been given an 88 overall rating and attributed with 83 diving, 90 handling, 85 reflex and 85 positioning.

#5 Gianluigi Buffon: 88 Overall
The veteran goalkeeper has been ever-present between the sticks for Juventus. Age doesn’t really seem to catch up to him as the Italian performs season after season at the top level. He is the top rated player in Calcio A and the fifth highest rated goalkeeper in FIFA 17.
Buffon signed for Juventus from Parma in 2001 and became an instant hit in Turin. During the Calciopoli scandal in 2006 where Juventus were relegated to Serie B, Buffon decided to stay with Juventus which was widely praised by Juventus fans.
Buffon has made almost 600 appearances for Juventus and has won seven Serie A titles including five in a row from 2012 to 2016. Buffon made 35 league appearances for the Italian champions last season and kept 21 clean sheets. Buffon belongs to a category of his own- the type which grows better as they age.
In FIFA 17, Buffon has been rated 88 and attributed 87 diving, 88 handling, 84 reflex and 90 positioning.

#4 Hugo Lloris: 88 Overall
The Frenchman has been in brilliant form for Spurs and is the fourth highest rated goalkeeper in FIFA 17. He was instrumental in Mauricio Pochettino’s Premier League campaign last season and almost won it for the London side but succumbed towards the end of the season.
A goalkeeper rated for his reflexes and distribution, Lloris made his name at Lyon where he played almost 200 matches for the French club. In 2012, Tottenham Hotspur signed the goalkeeper and since then, Lloris has been one of the most important players for them.
Last season, Lloris played 37 Premier League matches for the London team and conceded only 34 goals keeping 13 clean sheets in the process as Tottenham finished third on the table.

#3 Thibaut Courtois: 89 Overall
Thibaut Courtois is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and the third best goalkeeper in FIFA 17 with an overall rating of 89. Thibaut Courtois made his name in his loan days at Atletico Madrid where he established himself as one of the best goalies of La Liga. In the 2013-2014 season, the lanky Belgian’s displays at the goal were instrumental in Atletico’s unprecedented La Liga win and a Champions League final spot.
Chelsea soon called back the developed Courtois back to Stamford Bridge where he displaced Petr Cech as The Blues’ number one goalkeeper. In his first season at Chelsea, he won the Premier League title.
However, last season wasn’t nearly as successful as expected for Courtois. He was injured early in the season and missed a good chunk of matches pre-Christmas. When he did return, Chelsea were in the dumps and could not rescue them from a 10th place finish. However, he put in some good displays for Belgium in EURO 2016 which sees his rating go up by a point.
Courtois is attributed with 84 diving, 91 handling, 89 reflex and 86 positioning in FIFA 17.

#2 David De Gea: 90 Overall
David De Gea is the highest rated Premier League goalkeeper in FIFA 17 with an overall rating of 90. An Atletico Madrid academy product, De Gea won the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup with the Spanish club in 2010.
In 2011, Manchester United signed the young goalkeeper approximately £17.8 million. Since joining United, he has made over 200 appearances for the English giants and won the Premier League in 2013.
A dramatic transfer saga in the summer of 2015 between United and Real Madrid saw him stay in Manchester after irregularities in paperwork on deadline day prevented the deal going through. With De Gea’s future At United, he established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world last season.
There were an innumerable number of times when it seemed that the Spaniard was saving Louis Van Gaal’s job week in and week out. He was impressive in United’s otherwise lacklustre displays.
De Gea is rated 90 in FIFA 17 and attributed to an impressive 88 diving, 85 handling, 90 reflex and 85 positioning.

#1 Manuel Neuer: 92 Overall
The best goalkeeper in the world is ranked first in EA Sports’ list of top goalkeepers with a rating of 92. Neuer has been outstanding for Bayern Munich and the German national team for quite some time now and is considered one of the best goalkeepers of all time.
Neuer started his career at Schalke after progressing through every age group at his hometown club in the 2010-11 season, Neuer was appointed the captain of the team and led Schalke to a Champions League Semifinal.
He joined Bayern Munich in 2011 and since then has become one of the best sweeper-keepers the game has ever seen. Neuer is gifted with terrific reflexes as well has an impeccable ability on the ball which made him an epitome of the ball playing goalkeeper Pep Guardiola prefers. In his six years at Bayern, Neuer has won the Bundesliga four times along with the Champions League in 2013.
Manuel Neuer is rated 92 in FIFA 17 and attributed 89 diving, 89 handling, 89 reflex, and 91 positioning.
