Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the highest rated players in FIFA 17 overall, but the duo are nowhere near the fastest 20 players in the game. In fact, only a single player rated in the 90s overall, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale makes the list, while Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the fastest player in the game, rated 96 for pace.
Shockingly, last year’s #1 speedy player, Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, does not even make the top 20, a sharp decline in his pace rating coinciding with a fall in his form on the pitch as well. His teammate at the Gunners, Hector Bellerin does find himself highly rated for pace, with the Spaniard ranking 4th in the list, just a point behind Aubameyang with his pace rated at 95.

The importance of sheer speed in the real version of the beautiful game is not particularly reflected in how good a player is, and EA Sports’ simulation also mirrors that view. SpVgg Greuther Fürth’s Mathis Bolly is the second fastest player in the game, but only gets an overall rating of 67, followed by Inter Milan’s Jonathan Biabiany in 3rd place.
Lucas Moura, Raheem Sterling, Jordi Alba, Kingsley Coman and Ahmed Musa are the other notable names present in this list, which heavily features players with low overall ratings, with 4 players rated in their 60s and 10 players rated in the 70s.
