#2 Diego Perotti
![Perotti had a good season with Roma by all accounts](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2018/05/e7c57-1526972384-800.jpg 1920w)
The AS Roma winger had a good season despite the recurring injuries - he missed 14 games due to muscle and calf problem. But that didn’t deter him from scoring 11 times and assisting on another 5 occasions in all competitions.
Primarily a left winger, Perotti didn’t seem to fit into Sampaoli’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, which pretty much explains a paltry return of just 2 appearances since he took over last year.
But Perotti brings tremendous pace down the flanks and can get past the most labyrinth set-up with his precocious dribbles. He was named in the 35-man preliminary squad and should’ve been retained in the final 23 too, as a backup at least.
