India moved up two spots to 152 in the FIFA Rankings according to the latest release, which came out on Thursday. India also rose two places to 28th in the Asian Rankings.
The SAFF Championship 2013 runners-up played their first match of this calendar year on March 5, which was a FIFA match date, as they came from behind to hold lower-ranked neighbours Bangladesh 2-2 at Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Margao, Goa.
That result saw Bangladesh move up two places to 162 while India remain the second highest nation in South Asia behind SAFF 2013 winners and AFC Challenge Cup 2014 participants Afghanistan, who have jumped 11 spots to 127.
The next FIFA match dates are in September and the India senior side may not be in action due to the participation of the under-23 team in the Asian Games while the Indian Super League is also expected to take place that time. It remains to be seen whether the seniors play any further matches this calendar year.
The next release of the FIFA Rankings is scheduled for April 10.
