FIFA still not sure about World Cup 2022

FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke’s report on Wednesday shook the football world and created more controversies than ever. The decision to shift the 2022 FIFA World Cup (QATAR) to winter was the big thing which people were talking about. Valcke said, “The dates of the world cup will not be in June or July. I think it will be played between November 15 and January 15 at the latest. If you play between November 15 and, let’s say, at the end of December, it’s the time when the weather is most favorable. You play with a temperature equivalent to that of a rather hot spring in Europe, you play with a temperature of 25 degrees, which is perfect to play football.”

In another statement FIFA appeared to backtrack saying Valcke was giving “his view” that the 2022 World Cup 2022 must take place in winter and the best time will be between November 15 and January 15.

Another FIFA statement said, “The precise event date is still subject to an ongoing consultation process which involves all main stakeholders, including both the international football committee as well as FIFA’s commercial partners (Commercial Affiliates and Media Rights Licensees).”
