#4 Mexico vs Sweden
When the groups were drawn ahead of the tournament, Germany was expected to come out on top of Group F and leave Mexico and Sweden to fight it out amongst each other for second place. One thing is for sure, Germany hasn’t had it easy. Mexico currently sit on top of the table with two wins, one of which came against the Germans. Sweden were agonizingly close to repeating Mexico’s heroics against the Germans but were undone by some late Toni Kroos magic.
Mexico needs just a draw while Sweden can only rest easy with a win. A draw may be enough for Sweden as well, but will then have to hope for Germany to lose to South Korea. The last time these two teams met in the WC was back in 1958 when Sweden hosted the tournament; the hosts on that day came away as 3-0 winners and will be hoping for a similar result on Wednesday.
