The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India lost 11 spots to be joint 170th amongst the 209 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India dropped to 36th amongst 46 nations in the rankings. India is joint 170th with São Tomé e Príncipe and Guyana behind neighbours Sri Lanka on 84 points, 35 points less than last month.This 170th ranking is India's worst-ever FIFA world ranking since its inception and raises a lot of questions ahead of next years 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.Amongst the South Asian nations India are in fifth spot behind Afghanistan (133th) and the Maldives (142nd), Bangladesh (163rd), Sri Lanka (169th), but stay ahead of Nepal (179th), Pakistan (183rd) and Bhutan (209th).India played an international friendly earlier this month against Palestine, which Team India lost 2-3 to Palestine in Siliguri, but in the next few months no international friendlies are planned.Meanwhile, there were no changes amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Germany (1,725 points) stay ahead of Argentina (1,538), Colombia (1,450), Belgium (1,417) and the Netherlands (1,374) to complete the top five.
