Fiorentina have taken the unusual step of releasing an official club statement to quell speculation that their Columbian winger Juan Cuadrado is on the verge of completing a transfer to Roma. Cuadrado has been a target of Liverpool & Manchester United, reportedly.
The 26-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup, has generated interest from further afield as well with Arsenal and Liverpool apparently keeping tabs on his progress but reports suggested Roma had won the race for his signature.
However, in a week when they officially completed the signing of the player themselves, Fiorentina have moved to pour cold water on the speculation. Despite Cuadrado being at the club for two seasons, Fiorentina have only just bought out the remainder of his contract from previous employers Udinese.
Cuadrado has had an excellent World Cup so far, he has a Squawka Performance Score of 81. Furthermore, he has completed 89% of his passes, while he has also completed four take-ons.
“ACF Fiorentina categorically deny the rumours in the media of a meeting with A.S. Roma regarding the sale of Cuadrado,” read the statement.
“The indiscretions are totally without foundation, so the club will protect its image and warn against the spreading of false information.”
