#3 Juan Mata - Midfielder
Manchester United's decision to extend Juan Mata's contract last summer was a very strange one. He has only featured three times this season and none of those appearances were in the Premier League. Manchester United's forgotten man is not even a squad player anymore, having been regularly dropped from the matchday squad for the past few seasons.
There were quite a few reports from Spain linking him to Real Sociedad in the January window. But Juan Mata is set to stay at Manchester United until the end of his one-year extension. A free transfer to his home country is on the cards for the 2011-12 Champions League winner this summer window. A reunion with La Liga side Valenica is also a possible destination for Mata this summer.
#2 Edinson Cavani - Forward
Cristiano Ronaldo's homecoming to Manchester United was never good news for Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan veteran had a solid start to life on the red side of Manchester, with 17 goals and six assists in his first campaign.
But it has been a very different story this season, with a severe drop in appearances as well as goal contributions. The omnipresent Cristiano Ronaldo starting every game is partly to blame, but Cavani's persistent muscle injuries are the primary reason for this decline.
Always flirting with many clubs to move away from Manchester United, Cavani was very close to leaving the club for FC Barcelona this January. Rangnick stepped in at the last minute to stop the move from materializing as Cavani was still in his plans for the next six months.
The reason behind this was Anthony Martial's imminent transfer away from Old Trafford in the January window itself, Sevilla being his potential suitors.
#1 Paul Pogba - Midfielder
Paul Pogba is set to leave Manchester United for free, a second time in the past decade. The Frenchman is undoubtedly talented and is one of the best ballplayers on the pitch when in form. But the inconsistencies in his work ethic and professionalism have been the highlights of his second stint at Old Trafford.
The World Cup winner has struggled with major injury setbacks one year after another for the past three seasons. There have been no fruitful renewal talks between his agent Mino Raiola, who infamously offered him to Manchester City before a derby, and his employers.
Yet to feature under the German manager's regime, the 28-year-old will be looking for a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
