Teams that win the title have an air of certainty about them. The manager knows which players will play and when the others will take their places in the side.

And for that, a team needs to have stability, in terms of who is a first-choice and who is a second choice. Milan though, will struggle to make sure of that under Montella for a few weeks into the new campaign. The former Fiorentina boss would have to chop and change a lot of things and get his tactics right before they launch themselves into a title challenge.

He will feel blessed to have a good team depth at his disposal, but that isn't the only thing that helps a team creep closer to winning the title. That will come in handy in the Europa League games, but Milan will struggle to find the perfect first team till the end of the first two or three months of the campaign. And while the pre-season friendlies exist, Milan's spending spree isn't supposed to end here. Montella will have a tough task at hand to find the perfect combinations.
