#7 Eric Cantona (France)
The “King of Old Trafford” achieved enormous success with Manchester United, winning four league titles in five years. But his international career was a bitter experience with a number of controversies.
Earning his first French cap in the late 1980s, he had a fall out with the then manager Henri Michel which prevented him from playing regular matches for France. However, during his peak, France failed to qualify for both the 1990 and 1994 editions of the World Cup.
In his international career, he scored 20 goals in 45 appearances. He retired from international football in 1995 before the 1998 edition when Les Bleus triumphed on home soil.
