Since the introduction of the Player of the Month award in 1994-95 season, a mere five players have managed to win the award in consecutive months. A plethora of legends have played in the premier league over the years, but the feat has been achieved only five times. Two of those five instances have come in 2015 itself. The latest addition to the curtailed list is Jamie Vardy of Leicester City.The award, an association football award, recognises the best Premier League player for a month. A panel chosen by the league’Âs sponsors ponder over the various performances and choose the recipient. The award is generally announced on the second Friday of the next month along with the Manager of the Month Award.

#5 Jamie Vardy

English and Leicester City forward, Jamie Richard Vardy, is the latest and only the 5th player to win the trophy twice in a row.

Jamie Vardy is in the form of his life in the current season. He is the league’s top scorer with 15 goals. Jamie Vardy along with Riyad Mahrez have propelled the Foxes to the summit. In doing so, Vardy won Player of the Month award twice in a row.

In October, he scored five vital goals for the Foxes. In the 2-1 win over Norwich City, he opened the scoring from the penalty spot. He salvaged a point for his team by scoring a brace against Southampton when his team was 2-0 down. Against Crystal Palace, Vardy scored a 59-minute winner. Against West Brom, he was again on the scoresheet which proved to be the eventual winner.

In November, he scored one each against the Manchester United, Watford and Newcastle United. The goal against the Red Devils broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s (former Manchester United player) record of scoring in 11 consecutive league games.

#4 Harry Kane

English and Tottenham Hotspurs forward, Harry Edward Kane, is the youngest player to win the Player of the Month award twice in a row. He became a regular starter and scored 21 goals for the Spurs in 2014/15 season. His performances in January and February led him to be in this list.

Against Chelsea, he scored a brace and set one up leading to a 5-3 win for Spurs. He, again, scored a brace against West Bromwich Albion including a penalty. In the 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace, he opened the scoring with a superb low strike.

In February, Kane scored a brace against local rivals, Arsenal, handing the Spurs a come-from-behind 2-1 win. An equalizer against Liverpool was bettered by a Mario Balotelli winner handing Spurs a 3-2 defeat. In the 2-2 draw against West Ham, Kane was again on the scoresheet.

#3 Cristiano Ronaldo

2006/07 was the breakthrough season for Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, in many ways. He breached the 20 goal a season barrier for the first time. He also won the Premier League medal with Manchester United.

On a personal level, He won the PFA Players' Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards. In April, he completed the treble by winning the PFA Fans' Player of the Year. He also won the FWA Footballer of the Year becoming the first player to win all four main PFA and FWA awards. Ronaldo was also one of eight Manchester United players named in the 2006–07 PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

For his stellar performances in the month of November and December, he was also been awarded Player of the Month award consecutive times.

In November, he scored one each against Portsmouth and Everton at Old Trafford. But, he was a constant menace on the right flank throughout the month with his speed, stepovers and free-kicks.

Three consecutive braces, against the likes of Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic and Reading, in the space of a gruelling ten days of Premier league, summarized his red hot form. Against Wigan Athletic, he came off the bench at half-time to change the course of the match in 4 minute salvo.

#2 Dennis Bergkamp

Former Dutch and Arsenal player and current assistant manager of Ajax, Dennis Nicolaas Maria Bergkamp is 2nd on the list. He won the award for his performances in August and September of the 1997/98 season. Starting as a wide midfielder, Bergkamp moved to being the main striker and then to second striker, where he remained throughout his playing career.

In August, He scored a brace against Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium (then the Dell stadium) handing the Gunners a 3-1 victory. Three days later, Bergkamp scored a hat-trick in an action-packed 3-3 draw against Leicester City. The last one of those came in added time which was cancelled out by Steve Walsh in the 6th minute of added time.

On 13th September, He didn't score himself but was involved in all the three goals scored by fellow striker Ian Wright against Bolton Wanderers. A week later, He scored a brace against the Blues at Stamford Bridge in a crucial 3-2 victory for the Gunners.

#1 Robbie Fowler

The first player to win the coveted Player of the Month award twice in a row was former English and Liverpool striker Robert Bernard "Robbie" Fowler in the 1995/96 season. He achieved the feat for his performance in the all-important months of December and January. In January, he shared the award with fellow striker Stan Collymore.

In December, He scored a brace against arch-rivals and eventual league winners Manchester United at home. A week later, Fowler (nicknamed God) scored a hat-trick against Arsenal after the Gunners had gone ahead at Anfield.

On 1st January 1996, he scored a brace against Nottingham Forest in a thrilling 4-2 win for the Reds. Fowler opened the scoring in the 3rd minute and equalized before the half time. Collymore won it for the Reds in the second half. In a 5-0 rout of Leeds United, he again scored a brace showing his instinctive goal-poaching ability.
