Yesterday was Twitter's 10th birthday and footballers have used the social media outlet to entertain, anger and – sometimes – leave us confused (You, Rooney). Here's looking back to some of the best first Tweets the medium saw from our favourite footballers around the globe.
Let's start with one that most of us would've expected given the Boss he is.
David Alaba is one hell of a footballer and we all admire and want him in our favourite teams but his first Tweet was...#weird
Speaking of weird, if only Zlatan did what Luis Suarez did, he'd be Boss (x2)
Rooney's Twitter page is amazing! Having a bad day? Check out Rooney's TL. Your team lost? Check out Rooney's TL. His timeline is gold (or used to be) and it all started off with this Tweet.
Speaking of Englishmen, Harry Kane's first Tweet revealed what he's scared of the most. (Damn it, Arsenal, why didn't you see this before?)
Daley Blind's first Tweet is an awe of Lionel Messi and its the same way most of us do it. (Have no clue how to compliment him but compliment him nonetheless)
On to his teammate, Michael Carrick shows us all what its like to win the Premier League trophy and hold it up
And now, moving on to the clubs. Warning: Liverpool's Tweet might get you to spit anything you're chewing
First up, Manchester City. They sure love their mascot.
Real Madrid (English) start their Twitter life with an article. Boooooooooring.
We wish we knew what Barcelona were talking about. (We're too lazy to go back and read what happened on that day)
Arsenal, meanwhile, keep it nice and classy. As is expected of them.
And finally the one you've all been waiting for, Liverpool FC.
