It's the January Transfer Window! Look who your club wants to buy

Elneny heading to the Emirates?

Many teams are looking to fill the voids in their teams this window. Almost all the clubs will be vying for top talents but that being said, they will need to be cautious in their approach else they may initiate a Fernando Torres to Chelsea like transfer than a Nemanja Vidic or Luis Suarez one.The Winter window provides us with some shockers, like the night when striker Peter Odemwingie drove to London to seal his move to QPR, we’ll see what unravels this New Year!Let us look at the potential players the top clubs need to sign, so they can provide an impetus to their teams at the business-end of the season.

#1 Arsenal

Elneny heading to the Emirates?

Arsenal are flying at the moment. But with the overdose of injuries and the number of key games coming up, they need to be clever this window. Fans expect some arrivals given they only signed Petr Cech in the summer (what a signing that one has been though!). FC Basel’s Mohamed Elneny might well be confirmed by the time this article is published.

He is a powerful holding midfielder, a position the Gunners’ fans have long craved for. But Arsene Wenger might also look at sprucing up his forward line, given Welbeck’s long-term injury. They should consider their defensive options as well.

What they want: Lars Bender, Karim Benzema, Victor Wanyama, Ezequiel Lavezzi

What they might get: Mohamed Elneny

Who might leave: Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina

#2 Chelsea

Teixeira soon to rekindle his bromance with Willian at the Bridge?

It is fair to say that the fans of The Blues wouldn’t have even thought about a possibility of being just above the relegation places halfway through the season which is exactly where they are right now. Let alone the thought of Jose Mourinho being sacked.

That being said, Chelsea need to move forward. They need to make key adjustments in their team to go for those European spots and the UCL title tilt. It may look far-fetched but if Chelsea can bring in the right players, who knows?

Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is English, in form, not cup-tied in the Champions League and looks to be the ideal January signing for Chelsea. The club also have a long-standing interest in Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira. Teixeira has been in fine form this season and has already stated his love to play in the Premier League.

However, John Stones and Marquinhos are unlikely to be available this month.

Who they want: Jamie Vardy, Alex Teixeira, Marquinhos, John Stones

Who they might get: Alex Teixeira, Baye Oumar Niasse (Lokomotiv Moscow)

Who might leave : Radamel Falcao, Juan Cuadrado (permanent to Juventus)

#3 Liverpool

Will Grujic be Klopp’s first signing at Anfield?

The Anfield faithful have an undying support for Jurgen Klopp. Though the German hasn’t had the best of starts, the reasoning being given by everyone is that this is Brendan Rodgers’ team and to let Klopp build his own army. Their defence looks in disarray along with the lack of form shown by their frontmen. Add to that Sturridge’s constant injury troubles, Klopp may be forced to go deep into the market.

Red Star Belgrade’s Marko Grujic is set to be confirmed soon by the club but he may be kept on loan for the rest of the season at the Serbian club. Leroy Sane of Schalke is admired, but Klopp is on record stating new faces are more likely in the summer and there is competition from across Europe for their signatures.

Who they want: Marco Reus, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Joel Matip

Who they might get: Marko Grujic, Mario Balotelli (back from loan)

Who might leave: Joe Allen, Jose Enrique

#4 Manchester City

Isco to City? Unlikely, but wilder things have happened in football

Since the Abu Dhabi takeover, City have been among the biggest spenders in all the windows. January has been a month when they’ve decided to add goals. Edin Dzeko made his move to The Etihad mid-season while last season a late move for Wilfried Bony cost £28 million. City are looking to bolster their defence and add some flair to the attack, so as they can give their best shot at the title.

Manuel Pellegrini suggested recently he is short of players. But he himself would know that he is a dead-man walking, primarily due to the looming figure of Pep Guardiola. So any transfers that may happen at the Etihad may be due to Soriano-Begiristain duo than the Engineer from Chile.

Who they want: Paul Pogba, Isco, John Stones, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo (Nearly everyone who can kick a ball)

Who they might get: Most probably no one but Isco looks the best bet

Who might leave: Patrick Roberts may be shipped out for a loan deal

#5 Manchester United

Will Mane come in as competition for Mata, has former Saint Schneiderlin filled his ears?

Traditionally, the Manchester United manager has an authority that would make Ceasar envious. Since Sir Alex Ferguson left, managers have tended to not only get what they want but also whatever chief executive Ed Woodward’s latest star-gazing lands them. They have splurged a lot of money in the market, though they have recouped much of it through player sales as well.

The injury curse has been on the team for quite a while and Van Gaal recently admitted that he underestimated the number of personnel required in the team. The obvious positions they will try to upgrade are centre back, winger and a striker.

Reports from Italy suggest Felipe Anderson is close to sealing a multi-million-pound move to the Theatre of Dreams. Adding to the fact Sadio Mane has presumably fallen out with Ronald Koeman and Romelu Lukaku’s agent talking up his client’s inclination to play in a big team, these transfers may be on!

Who they want: Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marquinhos, Gareth Bale

Who they might get: Sadio Mane, John Stones

Who might leave: Marouane Fellaini, Nick Powell (loan)

#6 Tottenham Hotspur

Berahino, the Man Utd supporter whose mom supports Arsenal may get his wish to play for Spurs

The Spurs have been in fine form this season and look to chase that elusive EPL title this term with their youthful squad. Clever buys like Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld have already shown their quality, and some more quality additions to this squad may give the long needed impetus to the North London Club.

Mauricio Pochettino has already highlighted the pressure that needs to be eased from Harry Kane’s shoulders and may also add a midfielder to their ranks.

Who they want: Ezequiel Lavezzi, Michy Batshuayi

Who they might get: Saido Berahino, Sandro Ramirez

Who might leave: Andros Townsend
