Here are some of the hot transfer rumours of the day from various European newspapers.
#1 QPR and Tottenham after Arsenal target Serge Aurier
QPR and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Arsenal target Serge Aurier.
The Premier League’s new entrants have made inquiries on Aurier to his club Toulouse, but the price tag of £7m may not be affordable for them. Hence, Arsenal and Tottenham are realistic destinations for the right-back.
Leading the race are the Gunners after it was reported that Arsenal have already struck a 5-year personal deal with Aurier worth £60,000-a-week.
The only road block in the deal is the transfer fee with Arsenal looking to wrap things up for £6.5m whereas the French club are demanding a minimum amount of £7.5m.
With his value increasing after every impressive performance in Brazil, Arsenal officials are racing to sign the Ivory Coast defender as soon as possible after losing their first choice right-back Bacary Sagna to rivals Manchester City.
#2 Louis Van Gaal wants Nigel de Jong at Manchester United
Reportedly, Louis van Gaal has already told the Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to pursue the AC Milan midfielder. Though he is a fan-favourite among the City fans, United’s would-be boss van Gaal wants the Dutch midfielder at Old Trafford.
Nigel de Jong made over 100 appearances for cross-town rivals Manchester City and helped them win the league title in 2011-12 before leaving for AC Milan.
With an ageing Michael Carrick and unimpressive Marounne Fellaini in midfield, Van Gaal wants a more reliable option in the form of De Jong. Van Gaal expects de Jong’s physical strength and stamina to bring steel to the lack-lustre United midfield.
With just 12 months left in his contract, the Italian club is tipped to cash in by selling the Dutch star to Manchester United.
#3 Tottenham eyeing Betherlands\' Memphis Depay
Tottenham have made a £17m bid for PSV Eindhoven’s wonder kid Memphis Depay. Hailed as the “new Cristiano Ronaldo”, Depay was impressive in the last season.
He also proved his quality by scoring the winner for Netherlands against Australia in the World Cup. Though Louis van Gaal wants to take him to Manchester United, Spurs are keen to bag the services of the youth star.
Being a specialist in free-kicks and long range shots, the North London team want him as a long-term replacement for Gareth Bale.
#4 Manchester United and Chelsea to fight out for Mangala after Barcelona pull out from the race
After Barcelona pulled out of the race, English giants Manchester United and Chelsea are set to fight a two-way battle to sign Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala. The 23-year-old French defender is regarded to be one of the most sought after defenders in Europe after shining this season in Portugal.
According to sources, Barcelona have dropped their interest in Mangala after being told of his £36 million release price by Porto. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of Mangala and is expected to secure the move after the £50m sale of David Luiz to PSG.
Louis van Gaal is also desperate to bring him to Manchester United after the departure of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. However, Chelsea seems to be the realistic destination as Mangala told the media that he would favour a move to Chelsea.
#5 Liverpool to go for Chile star Alexis Sanchez
Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez after his sizzling performances in the World Cup.
Though it is reported that Barcelona want to swap Sanchez plus £30m for Luis Suarez, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is adamant that Suarez will not leave Anfield this summer.
It was also reported that Juventus is eyeing the Barcelona star, but Sanchez’s agent has made it clear that the Chilean star is not ready to go back to Italy. Also, Sanchez has been expressing his interest to play in the Premier League for some time.
Hence, Rodgers seems to be the front runner to sign Sanchez for the next season.
