Former Indian international defender, Pralay Saha, has passed away after meeting with a road accident some 45 kilometers from Cuttack in a small town named Jajpor. Pralay was travelling with a host of people in three Mahindra Scorpios. The accident claimed the life of six passengers including that of the former Indian defender.
Pralay Saha was capped by Indian 13 times representing the country in the SAFF Cup in Lahore and SAF Games in Dhaka in 1993. Given his debut by former manager, Jiri Pesek, Pralay Saha was known for his solid defensive contribution often stealing the ball from the heels of the opposition.
He made his debut for India against Finland in Chennai in the Nehru Cup. Apart from the national team, the defender also played for East Bengal in 1993 and 1994 winning the CFL, Kalinga Cup, Durand Cup and Wai Wai Cup in Nepal in 1993 and Rovers Cup and IFA Shield the following year.
His international laurels including winning the SAFF Cup in 1993 as well as finishing as the runner-up in the SAF games the same year. Apart from that, he represented Bengal and won the Santosh cup in 1993.
The official East Bengal club website paid their tributes to the defender. Pralay was a married man and the localities from where he's from – Baguihati, Kolkata – have embarked on the journey of recovering his body from Jajpor.
