Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has announced that China is likely to be his next destination as he attempts to continue his career in Asia. The dynamic midfielder has been out of contract since leaving Besiktas in November, and now looks set to continue his career in China, although there hasn’t been any direct contact with the clubs over there yet.
The ex-Spanish international said: “There are many possibilities [for me] to go to China.”
There has been speculation linking him with a move to Spanish side Getafe, but it was rumored to have fallen through because of Guti’s respect towards Real Madrid. Having made over 300 appearances for Los Blancos, it was understandably evident that Guti has an extra affection towards the Spanish giants.
“I will continue playing, but my heart will always be white. It’s [Real Madrid] my second family. I owe them everything.”
He left Madrid to join Besiktas last year after spending over 25 years with Los Merengues. He became an integral part of the Turkish outfit, but was deemed to be surplus to requirements this season with a new manager at the helm. Subsequently, Guti was released from the club last November and it appears certain that he will head to China to resurrect his career.
