Fortaleza and Trinidense return to action in the Copa Sudamericana when they go head-to-head in the final group-stage game at the Arena Castelão on Wednesday. While the Paraguayan outfit have already been eliminated, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men will head into the game looking to secure top spot in Group D.
Fortaleza returned to winning ways last weekend when they edged out Sport Recife 4-1 in the semi-finals of the Copa do Nordeste.
Before that, Vojvoda’s men were on a seven-game winless run, claiming five draws and losing twice across all competitions.
Fortaleza now turn their attention to the Copa Sudamericana, where they have picked up 10 points from five matches to sit at the top of Group D, two points above second-placed Boca Juniors.
Trinidense, on the other hand, have endured a tough continental run as they head into the group finale rooted to the bottom of the table.
Jose Arrua’s men have lost four of their five matches, with their only victory coming on April 24, when they beat Nacional Potosi 2-0 on home turf.
Trinidense head into Wednesday’s game off the back of a 2-1 victory over Olimpija in the Paraguayan top flight, where they have picked up seven points from their last three matches.
Fortaleza vs Trinidense Head-To-Head
This will be the second-ever encounter between Fortaleza and Trinidense, with the Brazilian side claiming a 2-0 victory when they first met in April’s reverse fixture.
