Paris, Sep 13 (IANS) Spanish forward Jese Rodriguez emphasised that moving from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain is not a failure, and noted that competition within the Parisian football squad for a starter position does not bother him.

Jese moved to PSG on a five-year contract for a transfer price of 25 million euro ($27 million) to leave Real after nine years, as he joined the Spanish capital club at the age of 14.

In an interview published on Monday by Le Parisien, Jese said that moving from Real Madrid to join PSG is a chance to prove himself and does not represent a move backwards in his career, reports Efe.

The 25-year-old added that: "I was forced to rest a bit and then I had to do double training sessions to regain my form and fitness.

"Now, the most important thing is that I can train every day and adapt to my new life. I have not yet found a place to live -- it is very difficult to find a home in Paris," the Spaniard said.

As for the competition with Uruguayan Edison Cavani, he stressed: "Cavani is a great player, but I am nobody's backup."

"My priority right now is to learn French, but fortunately I can speak Spanish in the dressing room with the South Americans. Even those who do not speak Spanish have helped me to settle in though," he concluded.
