Out of form players, based on World Cup performances
The tournament in Russia was not the best for the Citizens, as most of them did not have a great time at the World Cup. The competition was totally forgettable for the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho, who were just really poor. They were totally out of sorts and it was hard to imagine that these were the same three players, who had won the Premier League and League Cup title a few weeks ago.
On the other hand, Kevin de Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi would be other City players who did not have the best of tournaments, though the former still put on a decent showing with Belgium. Otamendi on the other hand will want to forge this time at the competition, as his team was all over the place and even he lacked discipline.
Though the international tournament does not always determine the fate of a player's domestic campaign, there were quite a few first-team players who were poor and it could have an overall impact on their morale and performances in this season.
