Former Dutch international and Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Demy de Zeeuw has taken to social networking site LinkedIn to find himself a new home. Currently, a free agent, De Zeeuw is the first to take the innovative route to find a club after leaving Anderlecht in 2014.
“New club: Me 31 years FREE player, clubs AZ Alkmaar, AJAX Amsterdam, Spartak Moscow and RSC Anderlecht 3x Champions 2 cups all different teams”. Don’t mistake this message for any classifieds ad in any newspaper. The above is exactly what the former Oranje midfielder has posted in his biography in order to lure a new employer.
While we have certainly seen players like Stewart Downing and Owen Hargreaves take to YouTube to demonstrate their skills, this is certainly the first time that any player has crafted his resume in this fashion.
Whilst getting criticized by Anderlecht manager John van den Brom for his poor attitude, the Dutchman has scored 11 goals for Ajax as recently as 2011. So, there is certainly a player there that someone could use. ISL owners are you watching?
