Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has once again pulled off an imposing display in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final encounters against Juventus.
Ajax were magnificent in their style of play as they settled to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night. Although Juventus will be the happier side of the two, courtesy of Ronaldo’s crucial away goal.
The Portuguese gave Massimiliano Allegri's men the lead just before half time after a beautifully dinked ball from Cancelo which was headed home by the living legend himself.
The home side came back roaring and got the equalizer just within a minute after the restart through David Neres’s beautiful curler which Szczęsny had no chance of saving.
However, the tie is still far from over as they will lock horn once again in Turin on the 16th of April.
Frenkie de Jong’s stunning display
While Ronaldo dominated the headlines for scoring a brilliant header immediately after coming into action following his recent injury layoff, one player who also drew praises from football fans is Ajax midfielder, Frenkie De Jong.
The 21-year-old Dutch starlet was at his scintillating best as he dominated the midfield throughout the 90 minutes and gave a masterclass to the likes of Pjanić and Bentancur.
He controlled the tempo of the game till the very end and his range of passing was just incredible. He also chipped in with some really important final tackles which helped Ajax to keep the Old Ladies at bay during the game.
De Jong completed as many as 90 passes which was the most between the both sets of players and had a successful dribble ratio of 100%. He also made three successful interceptions throughout the course of the 90 minutes.

The Barcelona-bound midfielder has all the technical abilities along with the footballing brain that Los Blaugrana thrive for. The composure he has got whenever he has the ball is a great art to master at such a young age. His style of play which mainly includes short passes and beautiful layoffs perfectly concord with the values of La Masia.
His adaptability in the midfield will certainly help Barcelona. He can play in the pivot role, can adjust to the left side of the midfield and he can also be a box-to-box midfielder. Barcelona will have a complete package in their ranks from the upcoming season.
