Much to the delight of the Liverpool fans, the team has enjoyed a solid start to the season with two wins out of the two games so far (over Stoke City and Aston Villa). But the first real test for Brendan Rodgers’s men will come in the form of David Moyes’s Manchester United, when the two teams face-off at Anfield on Sunday. Rodgers lost both the league games against Manchester United last season, and will be keen to set the record straight this time round.

Kolo Toure is doubtful for the game due to the groin injury he suffered in the League Cup tie against Notts County, and if the veteran defender misses out, it’ll be a huge loss for the team as Toure has had an excellent start to his Liverpool career, and his performance against Villa, where he kept Christian Benteke quiet was very impressive.

Martin Skrtel, widely rumoured with a move to Napoli in the transfer window, is expected to get his first start for Liverpool this season alongside Daniel Agger.

Otherwise, the team that played against Stoke and Villa is expected to start against Manchester United. Simon Mignolet has quickly managed to become a Kop favourite and he’ll look to continue the run of clean sheets in the Premier League. Daniel Sturridge will want to keep his goal-scoring run going, and his link-up play with Phillipe Coutinho will be the one to watch out for.

We can expect to see the wing-backs – Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique to charge into the Manchester United half to provide crosses, and also look to cut inside whenever possible.

Lucas Leiva will be expected to keep the likes of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney quiet, and Steven Gerrard will look to pull the strings from the centre of the midfield and also look to make occasional runs into the opposition box.

With the support from the Anfield faithful, who are often termed the team’s 12th player, and the occasion of legendary manager Bill Shankly’s birth centenary on Monday, there will be added motivation for the Liverpool team to do well.

Liverpool to win a hard-fought game 2-1 with goals from Daniel Sturridge, Robin van Persie and the winner from Steven Gerrard.

Many might argue that Premier League encounters between United and Liverpool have lost its sheen over the last few years, but for the fans, it has always been one of the biggest fixtures to look out for in a season.

For the first time in ages, United will go into the match without Sir Alex’s familiar figure in the dugout. However, the way we have performed so far in the league with our new manager David Moyes has been quite comforting, to be honest.

Despite this summer being the most anxious for the Mancunians with Sir Alex’s retirement and the Wayne Rooney transfer saga, both coming at the same time, our performance in the first two matches have been impressive.

But Liverpool have been pretty professional with their displays this season, having come away with maximum points from their first couple of fixtures.

However, Luis Suarez’s absence due to suspension will be good news for us, given the Uruguayan’s goal scoring proficiency. But, when you are facing Liverpool, you never want the win to come by that easy.

Given our recent form and how we have performed significantly well as opposed to popular beliefs under our new manager, I think we are going to get all the points. Moyes has done a great job by incorporating our top strikers – RvP and Rooney, in the same team and our best chance in winning comes with them playing together.

Wayne Rooney, if he plays, to score. If not, we always have Robin van Persie.
