Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan will be a Newcastle player soon with reports suggesting that a deal will be finalised by Monday. The French winger could be sold for a price of around 3 million euros which is exactly the same price for which he was bought from Bordeaux in 2009 to Manchester United.
Obertan has found it tough for himself at United, after many poor performances for the Reds, he was criticized a lot by the fans. He really couldn’t prove what he is capable of completely at Old Trafford, and lack of first team chances is an another reason for Obertan’s move to the Magpies.
Obertan had improved a lot during their pre-season games in the USA, and put in some decent performances for the Reds, but however after Manchester United had completed the signing of Ashley Young from Aston Villa in June, Obertan wouldn’t get many chances with Giggs, Valencia, Nani, Park, Young all up there fighting for a place in the starting 11.
Obertan has just started in 4 premier league games for United and scored just one goal since his arrival in 2009. He has made a total of 14 appearences for the Reds. He is a decent winger with some great pace and skill.
He will become Newcastle’s 4th French signing of the summer after Newcastle having already wrapped up the signatures of Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid. Newcastle’s first match in the Premier league will be against the Gunners on 13th August at St. James Park.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew told Sky Sports: “All being well, the deal will be pushed through next week. He has not really had the chance to shine at Old Trafford but he has pace to burn and will bring some much needed sharpness to our side.”
