Galatasaray are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia as part of new boss Roberto Mancini’s efforts to strengthen the squad in January, according to Turkish publication Fanatik, quoted in the Daily Express.
The former Manchester City boss is hoping that David Moyes’ preference for other wingers at the club will make the Ecuador winger receptive to a move.
The report suggests that with the likes of Ashley Young, Nani and even Adnan Januzaj all ahead of Valencia in the pecking order, a move could be done in the next transfer window.
It is thought that Galatasaray are prepared to offer up to £12.5m for the player, but they face competition from Roberto Martinez’s Everton.
The Toffees currently hold a negotiating card in form of Leighton Baines, a long-time Old Trafford target, and may be prepared to offer the player in any deal for Valencia.
However, before Galatasaray can sanction a move for Valencia, they will have to offload at least one of their foreign players due to Turkish quotas on foreigners.
