Welsh footballer Gareth Bale is lauded for his immense striking skills by spectators and peers alike. The Real Madrid winger put in a stupendous performance at the team’s La Liga face-off against a diminished Rayo Vallecano side, which saw Los Blancos take a mammoth 10-2 victory against their rivals.
Playing at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Bale helped his team equalise – and then ran riot, scoring another three goals that night, bringing his tally to a mammoth four goals in total, nearly half of the team’s tally. He also completed a perfect hat-trick on the night, managing one goal each with his left foot, right foot and head.
Only a few days after that match, the Welshman flew home to Cardiff – this time to make a whole new set of fans happy. The 26-year-old and his long-term partner Emma Rhys-Jones visited the Children’s Hospital for Wales on Christmas Day to surprise ailing children with toys.
The Cardiff native did not inform nurses he would be visiting the hospital, and brought the entire ward toys and presents, handing them out to each child as he spoke to them and their parents.
The BBC and local newspapers learned that Bale had done this of his own volition, and not as part of any promotional activity. He posed for pictures with the children and their families afterwards.
