Former Manchester United right back and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has picked his team of the season.
The goalkeeper of his choice was Manchester United’s David de Gea, The two centre-backs were United’s Rio Ferdinand and Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen, with Man City’s Pablo Zabaleta and Everton’s Leighton Baines at right-back and left-back respectively.
Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and yet another United star, Michael Carrick, were the two centre midfielders, with Chelsea‘s Juan Mata and Gareth Bale the right and left wingers respectively.
Luis Suárez and Robin van Persie lead the line up-front.
Not a single Arsenal player features in the list. Notable absentees include Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla, Swansea’s Michu and Everton’s Marouane Fellaini.
The team appears very similar to that chosen by the Professional Footballers’ Association last week, with only one change – Eden Hazard replaces Gerrard in the PFA Team of the Season.
