Gerardo Martino blasts Real Madrid's £85 million bid for Gareth Bale

Barcelona manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino has slammed Real Madrid for offering £85 million for the services of Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid are expected to complete a record £85 million deal, that may also include a Real Madrid player, most probably Portugal defender Fabio Coentrao, to acquire the Welsh international’s services in the upcoming week.

With the world in a state of global economic crisis, Martino believes shelling out such big money shows lack of respect for other clubs in Europe as it hyper-inflates players’ value in the transfer market.

The Barcelona boss was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror: “He’s a very good player, but the numbers seem to me almost a lack of respect for the world in general.”
