Germany’s thick fire power boasts of the masters of the game and their value will seek to speak during the Euro 2012. Germany, placed in the group of death along with Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark, will not have an easy ride. However, the three times Euro Champions are expected to make it to the last four in the tournament.
Germany was outplayed by Spain in the 2010 World Cup after a series of remarkable wins and they will keep that in mind. Also adding to that is the 2008 defeat in the Euros to the same opponents in the finals. Expected to finish as group leaders, Germany might well face the Spainish threat in the later stages.
Spain will miss two big match winners in David Villa and Carles Puyol, whereas Germany has no injury issues. Germany have the strongest lineup in this year’s Euros, at least on paper, and their approach seems almost perfect. The players in all three departments are formidable. The likes of Mirosolav Klose, Mario Gomez and Lukas Podolski up front shows the quality in attack to torment any side.
Gomez has shown his amazing form and game play this season and the more attacking midfield will give him enough opportunities to score. Mario Gotze, Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger shows the mix of youth and experience in midfield and teams will find it tough to win the midfield game. Germany’s defence comprising of Holger Badstuber, Mats Hummels and Philip Lahm are touted as Europe’s leading defenders.
Spain are genuine favourites and will like to complete a hat-trick of tournament wins but Germany might well pull out the lid out of Spain’s box. Germany will be stronger this time with players who have done remarkably for the top clubs in Europe. This is Germany’s best side in recent years and they will go out there with everything. A win against Spain will be the best moment they could savour but that won’t come easy.
