In route to its first World Cup championship, Germany took its worst loss against Hungary with an 8-3 result.

The brilliant Hungarian team showed its attacking arsenal against the German. Sándor Kocsis scored four goals, while Nándor Hidegkuti hit the net twice, Ferenc Puskás, and József Tóth added one goal each.

Alfred Pfaff, Helmut Rahn, and Richard Herrmann scored Germany's three goals.

However, Germany would face Hungary in the tournament's final and defeated them with a close 3-2 result to win its first World Cup.
