Germany had always been one of the strong competitors in the world football. Historically, Germany is one of the most successful teams at the international level behind Brazil and Italy. With 3 World Cup and 3 EURO wins, Germany has a very good track record under their belt. Their last major win was in 1996, where they grabbed the EURO, defeating Czech republic 2-1 at the final. But since then though, Germany had played brilliantly on some occasions, but they never got their deserving prize.
Many of the fans all over the world thought that EURO’12 is the right platform for Germany to show their emerging talent and grab their lost pride. Germany had a good start, having a 100% success record till the semi-final but it was Mr. Mario Balotelli from Italy who destroyed Germany’s hopes to compete against World No. 1 Spain in the fianle of EURO’12.
Starting with so much of confidence in this EURO, Germany had some emerging and supreme talents like Mesut Ozil, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Holger Badstuber, Sami Khedira, Tony Kroos. Manager Joachim Low too, was very confident in his boys. But it was Italy who had the last laugh. Though Germany have been knocked out of the championship, take a look at their records at international level since their EURO cup win in 1996:
