According to Sky Sports Italia, Serie A club Roma is on the brink of striking a deal with Arsenal‘s Gervinho for a fee believed to be around €8m plus performance-related bonuses. The deal could get complete within hours as even Arsene Wenger admitted that the Ivorian is close to the exit door.
Roma’s Director Walter Sabatini is in London for a few days to facilitate advanced negotiations with the Gunners. The Lille forward has already agreed personal terms in a four-year contract. The move will see him reunite with his old Lille boss Rudi Garcia.
Gervinho and Sabatini will fly to Boston pre-season training camp over the weekend to meet with Roma’s new American owners.
Meanwhile, Wenger also confirmed the reports that Gervinho is on the verge of an €8m transfer to Roma after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Napoli in Emirates Cup.
Wenger revealed: “For Gervinho, we are at the moment close to an agreement with a club.”
