United have two representatives in the Team GB squad that’ll complete in the London Olympics. Ryan Giggs has been given special permission by Sir Alex to head to the games, after failing to make a majorinternational tournament during his international career with Wales. Tom Cleverley, after missing out on the England squad for the European Championships, will also represent Britain at the games.
The only surprise from a United point of view is perhaps the absence of Ben Amos who many expected to make the squad. Personally, I was pretty worried about the effect that the Olympic squads might have on the team and specifically our start to the season, so to have only Giggs and Cleverley going for Britain is a bit of a boost. The final of the tournament is on the 11th of August and Cleverley and Giggs will report back to the club as soon as possible.
