Give Chelsea boss a chance, says Avram Grant

After their disastrous run of form lately, Chelsea are looking nothing short of desperate. Standing fifth in the Premier League and having just lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool in the League Cup, the pressure is certainly on the manager Andre Villas-Boas. With calls for his resignation despite being the manager as of the current season and with Guus Hiddink now available after leaving the Turkish national side as they failed to qualify for Euro 2012, one man in particular has said to lay off the pressure being applied to the under fire manager.

That person is Avram Grant. He himself is a former manager who was let go from Chelsea in 2008 despite reaching the Champions League final. Grant has offered his own words of wisdom: “The results are not so good but they need to give him time…It’s one of the things you need to give a new manager, especially him because he’s young. He’s facing new situations.”

The bad news for Villa-Boas does not end there; if Chelsea fail to defeat Valencia on Tuesday, they will be knocked out of Abramovich’s favourite competition. But before then, they face Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday who are actually above them in the table.
