English Championship side Blackburn Rovers could soon lose their ‘global adviser’ Shebby Singh from Malaysia to the relief of the fans after he has not been seen at Ewood Park quite a while; his relationship with the Venky’s family is said to have strained in recent times.
To the surprise of many, Shebby Singh, a former Malaysian international football and television pundit, had been named as ‘global adviser’ of Blackburn Rovers on June 28, 2012 with the aim of the having a man close to them at handling affairs at the club.
However, Shebby’s appointment further worsened already very bad times for the Rovers, who have been EPL champions in their better days.
Shebby Singh didn’t make any friends at the club, with his interviews and statements making many shake their heads in disbelief. In fact, Shebby was even more hated than the Venky’s family, who since their takeover of the club in 2010, have only seen it go down and down.
Many see sense in Shebby Singh moving out of his ‘global adviser’ role at the club, which is a unique capacity in the world of club football. A real football expert and crisis management expert is needed to sort out the mess at the club and restore its old glory.
