Gokulam Kerala FC have caught the eyes of the spectators early on in their foray into the I-League, with their amazing performance against teams like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, etc serving as notable examples. Now, the team has decided to start on the road to the youth I-leagues.
GKFC, who currently lie at 7th position in I-league, is inviting players for the selection trials 2018 to the youth academy. It will be a chance for all the young players in the nation to pursue their dream future in the world of football and see if they have what it takes to shine on the big stage.
This is the first year of the Malabarian team in the I-league and even before they complete their season, they have shown an interest to take in young footballing talents. This will be a huge boost to the players in southern India, especially the Malabar side of Kerala.
The club is aiming at the grass-root development of the most-played sport in the world and feel that the lack of this feature is what's hindering India's performances in the sport. This decision of the club will not only allow players to get recognised but will also help them get better facilities and training which will ensure their better development till the senior level.
The trials will be held for three categories:
U-18 (2000-01),U-15 (2003-04) and U-13 (2005-06).
These teams will compete in the youth I-leagues of their respective categories from the next season onwards.
It will be held from March 31 to April 2 (U-13 on March 31, U-15 on April 1 and U-18 on April 2) at the EMS Corporation stadium in Calicut (Kozhikode), Kerala.
The players who get selected will also be given quality education along with the training. They will also be given the choice to select between the state syllabus or CBSE syllabus. Those who are interested to participate and be part of the GKFC team, please do register at the official website of the club: www.gokulamkeralafc.com
Here's to hoping more academies will be introduced in different parts of the nation so as to get hold of the best talents and develop them in the right way.
