Gooner Musings: Another Season, Same Old, Same Old.

It seems dejection is all what is written in Arsenal's fate

“Arsenal draws again “- screamed the football headlines, I could barely control myself from throwing the newspaper into the dustbin . A bit of over reaction you might say – not quite. I have been waiting to write an article about a grandiose signing from gunners ( how would I know that there would be none to talk about), couple that with dismal performance in pre-season and Emirates cup, there is very little to look forward in this season. And now comes one of the saddest piece of news , the captain or should I say traitor Cesc Fabregas is finally going to Barcelona, a fee of the order 35 million pounds has been agreed for him. This for me comes as a major setback, it feels like loosing the accelerator of my fancy car. One of the most inspirational and talented player has now left the club leaving gooners feel cheated and betrayed.

Wenger recently remarked that Arsenal is soon turning into feeder club. where the youngsters are trained to become one of the finest footballers only to leave the club in their sporting prime. The example of Fabregas and Nasri is there for everybody to see, Fabregas has already left the club and he soon may be followed by the Frenchman. These over ambitious players have no sense of loyalty, we as gooners need to ask ourselves why there isn’t a single player like Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes or Steven Gerard or Frank Lampard who have pledged their loyalty to their home clubs.

Another matter of concern is the Arsenal’s habit of giving up matches even before its actually over, call me disobedient or disloyal but I like the Manutd’s method of slugging it out till the very end. I watched in agony when Arsenal playing Newcastle missed scores of opportunities and several times our defense was exposed. It is high time that we invest money which we will gain from sale of Fabregas and Nasri ( even his exit is inevitable) into buying strong defenders. Arsenal according to me have a pathetic defense, perhaps the weakest among top four.
