Barcelona Player Ratings
Marc-Andre ter Stegen - 8.5/10
Barcelona were indebted to Ter Stegen yet again in the first half as the German went down quickly to deny Darwin Machis a low finish. The shot-stopper made a string of saves in the second half and was unable to do much against Puertas' strike.
Gerard Pique - 8/10
Gerard Pique's stock has been on the rise since Xavi's appointment and the defender did himself another favour with an excellent performance against Granada. Pique put his body on the line on several occasions and was one of Barcelona's more spirited players.
Eric Garcia - 7.5/10
Eric Garcia impressed for Barcelona and made a crucial challenge to deny Darwin Machis a shot on target in the first half. The former City defender pulled a muscle in the second half and was replaced by Clement Lenglet.
Jordi Alba - 5.5/10
Jordi Alba was unusually quiet against Granada and was lacklustre in the final third. The left-back was unable to get the better of Quini and was caught out of position on a few occasions.
Dani Alves - 8/10
Football loves comeback kings, and you won't find a more lovable character in La Liga than Dani Alves. The Brazilian rolled back the years with a magnificent assist tonight and looks every bit the player that enthralled the Camp Nou for nearly a decade.
Sergio Busquets - 6/10
Sergio Busquets controlled the game for Barcelona and grew in stature as the first half progressed. The Catalan veteran was slightly overrun in the last 10 minutes and saw his role diminish towards the end of the game.
Nico Gonzalez - 6.5/10
Nico Gonzalez is growing into his box-to-box role at Barcelona and broke lines with impressive regularity. The youngster was concise with his passing and stepped up admirably.
Gavi - 4/10
Often praised for wearing his heart on his sleeve, Barcelona's 17-year-old prodigy was undone by his own tenacity tonight. Gavi received an early booking and was sent off for a sliding challenge, costing his side two valuable points and adding a steep slope to his learning curve in the process.
Ferran Jutgla - 6.5/10
Ferran Jutgla has become something of a sensation at Barcelona, but tonight was not his night. The youngster did manage to pull off a few inviting crosses in Granada's half and will continue to grow under Xavi's tutelage.
Ousmane Dembele - 6.5/10
Ousmane Dembele was not at his best tonight and only showed glimpses of his ability against Granada. The Frenchman did take a few shots from distance but did not trouble Maximiano's net.
Luuk de Jong - 8.5/10
The new year continues to smile at Luuk de Jong. In what was his best performance in a Barcelona shirt by a country mile, the Dutchman made his presence felt in the first half with a goal ruled out for offside, before nearly pulling off the goal of the season with an audacious flick.
For a moment, it did seem like it would be a night of 'almosts'. The Luuk de Jong of 2022, however, was not to be denied. Barcelona's much-maligned striker comfortably rose the highest to meet Dani Alves' cross and gave his side the lead before calling it a night.
Substitutes
Clement Lenglet - 5.5/10
Clement Lenglet came on after Garcia's injury and was booked within minutes of his substitution. The French defender was troubled by Granada's pace and did not look comfortable off the ball.
Abde Ezzalzouli - 6.5/10
Abde Ezzalzouli came on in the second half and nearly found the back of the net on a couple of occasions.
Memphis Depay - 5.5/10
Depay did not have much time to make an impact but was virtually absent during his second-half cameo.
Alvaro Sanz - 6/10
Alvaro Sanz was brought on after Gavi's red card but did not have enough time to make an impact.
