Big news coming out of London. Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka is set to join Arsenal after pictures of him sporting the red and white of the Gunners were leaked on social media today. The player has been in the news for quite some time now and these pictures from the account all but confirm his signature.
Several sources claimed that Xhaka had arrived at Arsenal’s training ground for a medical this weekend after a deal had been thrashed out. And now going by the images, Xhaka will be wearing the new kit next season most likely taking up the central midfield position in Arsenal’s engine room.
The fee for the player is reported to be around £30 million. The player originally joined Borussia Mönchengladbach for £6.3 million from Swiss side Basel as youngster after his impressive performances helped Basel win the domestic double.
Here are the tweets from the account named Valon Demiri who is claimed to be Albanian. Xhaka who plays for the Swiss national team is of Albanian origin and will become the first player from the country to play for the Gunners.

The midfielder was named as the captain of Borussia Mönchengladbach, after a few games had been played last season. Gladbach were struggling for results but Xhaka’s leadership inspired them to Champions League qualification.
Wenger has been in desperate need of reinforcements in central midfield after Jack Wilshere’s injury concerns and Francis Coquelin’s recession in form. Xhaka is not a traditional defensive midfielder but can break up play and provide short and sharp passes to keep the momentum of an attack going.
His leadership quality is also something this Arsenal team probably lacks and something Xhaka will bring in abundance after proving that with his heroics for the German club last season.
