Pavel Nedved – Attacking Midfielder
One of Czech Republic’s greatest ever players, Pavel Nedved played a crucial role in both the 1996 and 2004 Euros. Nedved gained widespread recognition for his role in the 1996 Euros where he played a starring role in Czech Republic’s run to the finals where they narrowly lost out to Germany.
He was also one of their key players in 2004, where they lost in the semi-finals to eventual champions Greece. A complete, tenacious and two-footed player, Nedved mainly played in the left side of the midfield, but he was also capable of playing in the attacking midfielder position and as a support striker.
Primarily known for his powerful shots and volleys from distance, as well as his stamina, Nedved also had a surprising burst of pace and was renowned for scoring important goals at crucial times.
A Ballon d’Or winner and one of the most complete players of all time, Nedved has undoubtedly been Czech Republic’s greatest player in recent times.
