Michael Zorc, the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund has admitted IIkay Gundogan’s desire to leave the club in the summer but is certain of holding on to Mats Hummels for a year more. With the club confirming on the 30th of April that Gundogan wouldn’t be extending his stay at Signal Iduna Park, the German international is likely to be sold rather than allow him to leave for free, at the end of the next season
Meanwhile, Mats Hummels, who still has two more years of the contract, left with the club is being heavily linked to a move at the Old Trafford, just like his teammate IIkay Gundogan. Although there haven’t been any bids from the club for either player Zorc insisted but he did hint at a possible exit for IIkay Gundogan.
Dortmund want to keep Hummels: Zorc
This is what Michael Zorc told reporters:
"Ilkay told us he wants to leave this summer. But we have received no offers from any clubs for any of our players as of now.”
"Every player always has to make decisions on their future but for us the intention is clear to keep Mats."
When asked about Klopp leaving the club:
"We tried and tried again to keep Klopp at Dortmund, but he had made up his mind. He could return one day. Why not? He's still a very young coach. The door would always be open."
