Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu opened up to his fans about his likes and dislikes, his favourite player, club and so on, on his official facebook page. The 23-year old is currently playing in the Norwegian Tippeligaen club Stabæk and will become the first Indian to play in the Europa League next season, as his club has assured a top three finish in the Norwegian league.
Gurpreet, like the majority of other football fans, considers Lionel Messi as his favourite player. He was asked by a fan about his favourite cuisine and his favourite football player, to which he gave the following reply.
The whole footballing world was engrossed in the battle between Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona last week, and quite naturally fans asked his opinion on which club he prefers of the two. He straightforwardly replied, Madrid.
Being a goalkeeper himself, Sandhu was asked which goalkeeper he considers the best in the game currently. He replied that he considers Manchester United’s David De Gea as the best shot-stopper around.
When he was asked to choose one between Messi and Ronaldo, Sandhu chose Messi despite the fact that he prefers Real Madrid over Barcelona. He also tipped the Argentine to win the Ballon D’Or come January.
The 6 ft 5 inch Indian considers Van Der Sar as his idol which he clearly stated after a fan questioned him about the same.
Though surprisingly, when a football fan asked him about which international goalkeeper he models his game on, Sandhu forthrightly took his own name.
When asked about his favourite outfit in the English Premier League, Gurpreet chose the 20-times English champions Manchester United.
Though, Sandhu was unsure about his favourite team in the ISL, he named Kerala Blasters as the club with best fan support.
Sandhu feels privileged while representing the country in Europe and he reiterated his feelings when a fan quizzed him about it.
Sunil Chhetri is widely considered to be the best Indian football player and Gurpreet completely agrees with the public’s view about the Indian forward and considers him as his favourite Indian footballer.
After repeated questions about which club he wishes to play for in Europe someday, the Mohali-born goalkeeper said that he wishes to play for Manchester United, even though his favorite club is Real Madrid.
