Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo will apparently sit out for Brazil's quarter-final encounter with Colombia after he picked up his second booking of the tournament during their game against Chile.
The former Bayern Munich playmaker was the epicentre of persistent fouls but got himself booked when he engaged in a rash challenge on Chile's Arturo Vidal. With the game deadlocked at 1-1, Vidal peered into the Brazil's defensive wall when Gustavo thwarted his run and brought him down which was appalling enough to earn himself a card. Eventually, Gustavo was snubbed off by coach Scolari in the wake of avoiding any harsher punishment later in the game.
Brazil went on to beat Chile 3-2 on penalties and will now take on another Latin American counter-part, Colombia in the last 8. However, they must do so without the services of their 26-year old Wolfsburg star.
