QPR boss Harry Redknapp believes that England would be better of with either Roberto Martinez or Brendan Rodgers at the helm and thinks that the FA should try and persuade them as soon as possible, according to the Mirror.
Redknapp thinks that England haven’t gotten any better under Roy Hodgson, who started managing England in 2012.
The former Tottenham manager, who was considered for the England job back in 2012, stated that he is too old to manage his country now and said that his “time has been and gone.”
There is an acute shortage of capable English managers which was noted by Redknapp who said: “It will be hard whenever Roy goes. The two brightest managers in the Premier League are both on Merseyside – one’s from Northern Ireland and the other is Spanish.
“The way they play is suited to international football, the passing and movement they produce in their teams is fantastic. Brendan has done an amazing job at Liverpool while Martinez has been excellent this season at Everton as well.”
It is unlikely for either Martinez or Rodgers to replace Hodgson in the near future as the 66-year-old has been asked to stay on as the Three Lions boss by the FA.
