Has dull Mourinho lost his spark?

FBL-ENG-PR-CHELSEA-MOURINHO

Jose Mourinho. This name has quite a lot of synonyms. Some call him a master tactician. Some call him arrogant. Some call him an attention seeker. Everything aside, he calls himself “The Special One”.

After his stint at Madrid came to an abrupt end, many cite his reign as a failure at the Bernabeu. First of all, his reign at Madrid cannot be termed a failure. He won everything that was there to be won domestically. He even defeated Barcelona (the team every team wants to beat) in their own backyard. Mourinho’s failure to deliver the tenth European crown for Real, combined with his touchline stunts, brought about his downfall at Madrid. His treatment of Iker Casillas earned him the ire of the Madristas. Lastly, Mourinho is controversy’s favourite child. The Special One cannot stay away from it. Summing it all together, the Portuguese bought domestic success to Real but failed to deliver at the European stage.

But does this mean that the Portuguese has turned dull or lost his spark?

I say, not at all. First of all, Mourinho can never turn dull. He makes sure of his presence with his antics, techniques and buzz. This season sees the Portuguese returning home to the Blues. Ask any Blues fan about the best manager they know and there is only one answer. Jose Mourinho, the Special One. From being an interpreter at Barcelona, to winning the Champions league with Porto, to delivering Chelsea their first league, to becoming the first manager to win a treble in Italy, to delivering domestic success to Real; Jose has come a long way.

He has won literally everything that is to be won in club football. His CV may not even have room to list the honors he has won.Mourinho is the first manager to win the traditional top three European league championships, the first manager to win every domestic trophy (the League Championship, Domestic Cup, Super Cup, and League Cup (if available)) in four European leagues, and the first to guide four different clubs to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League

The current season is a perfect opportunity for the Portuguese to answer back at his critics, which he has been doing successfully, apart from his own stunts. This Premier League season is going to be a nightmare for all the managers seeing the Special one at the helm of the Blues. The talent at Chelsea combined with the tactics of the Special One is going to be a stern test for any team visiting the Bridge and any team playing against them at home.

Mourinho’s only concern will be to find a suitable striker for Chelsea’s 4-2-3-1. If he manages to snap the ‘1’ up in the transfer window, then it might just prove to be the missing jigsaw in Chelsea’s puzzle. Meanwhile, get ready for a season filled with drama and excitement, as someone has returned to rekindle the Blues’ hope and lighten up the Premier League.
